Firefighters rescue woman from burning car in dramatic video

A woman was rescued from a burning car in Portland, Oregon, USA, by firefighters in a dramatic video.

An unidentified woman called rescue and emergency services after her car caught fire in Portland, Oregon, at the end of December 2024. The rescue was captured in a dramatic video.

According to Sergeant Sarah Kerwin, who spoke to KOIN 6 News, it was the first time someone had called saying, “I’m trapped.” “Suddenly, the person in the car is calling, saying it’s on fire, and they can’t get out,” she added.

Kerwin and her partner arrived on the scene and called the Portland Fire Department for assistance in rescuing the victim.

The firefighters used a battering ram to break open the car door after extinguishing the flames. The woman was pulled from the vehicle unable to breathe and needed to be revived with CPR. She was taken to the hospital and is recovering.

“I felt like this was the pinnacle of the call you train for, and the Portland Fire Department was crucial in getting her out of the vehicle because I just don’t think we could have done that safely,” said Sergeant Kerwin.
